We will be using a math book called i-Ready. We launched this new math program last year. We will begin the year with place value and rounding to the nearest 10 and 100. Then, we will move into adding and subtracting three-digit numbers. In November/December, we will focus on understanding multiplication and division. In January, we will learn about area and how to use multiplication to find area. By end of year we will be exploring basic geometry. It is expected by end of third grade for all students to have mastered the standard OA.C.7 which states, “By the end of Grade 3, students will know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.” We often refer to this as "memorizing math facts." However you choose to approach mastery of this goal, we highly recommend students make math facts practice a part of their daily routine.
